Virechan – Induced medicated Purgation

Virechan – Induced medicated Purgation
Virechan is an induced medicated purgation that detoxifies the excess doshas through the gastrointestinal tract. It is often followed by Vamana to complete the process of detoxification. Virechan is the most efficient method to balance and release Pitta from the body. It is also one of the best detox procedures as it provides complete purification not only of the blood and sweat glands, but also the kidneys,  stomach, small intestine, colon, liver and spleen.

In this therapy a special combination of ayurvedic herbs is used which bring toxins to the GI tract to be eliminated through the anus; it is normal for a person to have many loose bowel movements in Virechana. These will be assessed by the doctor as they indicate the level of purgation that has been achieved and also when the process is over. At the same time the doctor will monitor the condition of the patient, including the blood pressure and pulse. Dependent on the condition of the patient and the level of purging, the doctor will continue, as and when necessary, to administer the correct dose of medicines to enable and assist the full purgation of the system.
